After completing his degree at McNeese State former Southlake Carroll quarterback Riley Dodge will join the ranks of football coaching becomming an assistant coach on the staff of Austin Westlake next season.
Pending the ISD's future approval, Riley will coach football and teach history at the very school he defeated 43-29 for the 2006 5A State Championship. After winning the championship, Dodge's father and head coach Todd Dodge accepted a position as the head football coach at the University of North Texas.
In the move Riley will follow in both of his parents footsteps - his mother is a longtime teacher as well. The elder Dodge, recently named head coach at Marble Falls HS, discussed Riley joining his staff but a decision was made start Riley's career gaining experience from a more seasoned veteran staff.
A three-year letterman, Riley was no stranger to success, from 2005-2007 he threw for 8,143yds and a school record 101 TDs. In addition to the 2006 5A State Championship he was given multiple honors including being named as a 2008 Parade All-American and two time Texas 5A Offensive Player of the Year.
