The votes are in and tallied up forbrthe 2013 District 4-5A Football All District Selections. Dozens of CarrollbrDragons made their mark this season, with some even receiving unanimousbrselection.
Dragon juniorbrquarterback Ryan Agnew was chosen as District Most Valuable Player. Coming inbras a first-year starter, Agnewbris the latest in a long line of Carroll double-threat quarterbacks. Agnewbrcomplied 4,449 yards of offensive production and 52 touchdowns. He threw forbr3195 yards, made 32 touchdowns and completed 75% of his passes.
Dragon seniorbrlinebacker Steven Bergmark was honored as Defensive Most Valuable Player.brThe Carroll senior captain returned this year as the defense’s best playmaker. Bergmarkbrfinished 2013 with a team-leading 132 tackles, was 13 for losses and anbrinterception.
Dragonbrsenior kicker Drew Brown was unanimously selected as the Special Teams Playerbrof the Year. Brown, a Nebraska commit, secured nine field goals and 89 extrabrpoints this season.
Dragonbrsenior running back A.J. Ezzard was selected again as a first team running back.brThe three-year starter ran for 987 yards and 21 touchdowns. A returning first teambrall-district performer, Ezzard returns to the district after a solid campaign.
Dragonbrsenior wide receiver Luke Timian was unanimously chosen as one of the firstbrteam offense. The senior captain caught 79 balls for 1288 yards and 15brtouchdowns.
Dragonbrsenior wide receiver Keaton Duhon was listed as one of the first team widebrreceivers. Duhon ended 2013 with 65 catches for 800 total receiving yards and 8brtouchdowns..
Dragonbrsenior lineman Evan Brown was unanimously selected as the first team center.brThe towering left tackle and Southern Methodist University commit was the onlybrreturning starter from last year’s offensive line.
Dragonbrsenior left guard Ian Moss was unanimously selected as one of the first teambrguards. Moss stepped into the starting role this season, and is 11 in 2 overall.brThe senior is ranked 40th nationally and seventh in Texas.
Dragonbrsenior right tackle Jack Proskovec was unanimously chosen as one of the firstbrteam tackles. Proskovec took on a starting role for his senior season afterbrgaining experience as a rotation player last year.
Dragonbrsenior defensive end A.J. Tolbert was selected as one of the first team defensivebrends. Prodigy of former Cowboy defensive end Tony Tolbert, A.J. had a total ofbr81 tackles, two sacks and was six for losses. In 2012, Tolbert received SecondbrTeam All-District Honors.
Dragon junior safety Andy Chelf was also selected to the first team defense. Chelf received his first varsity start this season, he posted 107 tackles on the year— three for losses.
Dragonbrsenior nose tackle Nash Dickey was selected as first team defensive line. Thebrdefensive captain made an impact for the Dragon’s defensive front, tying forbrmost sacks.
Dragonbrjunior linebacker Joel McClellan was chosen as one of the first team outsidebrlinebackers. After serving as a reserve last year, McClellan made a huge impactbrthroughout the season, posting 93 tackles and four sacks.
