As the Dragons strap on their helmets and lace up for big games in the foreseeable future, returning rivalries and new competitors will take on the Carroll powerhouse.
The University Interscholastic League Class 6A football and basketball district alignments for the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 seasons were announced Monday.
Southlake Carroll now sits in the seventh district and will face extremely tough competition this year against Colleyville Heritage, Coppell, Euless Trinity, Haltom City Haltom, Hurst Bell and N Richland Hills Richland.
This is a dramatic shift from the previous district play, which included all four Keller teams, Midland Lee, Timber Creek, Northwest and more.
The easiest away game Carroll will play this year — in terms of traveling — is Colleyville Heritage. The school's stadium lights can be viewed from Dragon Stadium.
The Panthers posted 7 out of 10 wins last season, falling to Duncanville, Denton Guyer and Trinity. This match up across the street should be a great one for Dragons football district play.
The biggest rivalry on the 2014 district play roster will be Euless Trinity.
The Dragons attempted to continue their playoff journey through the holiday season, but missed the mark after falling to Euless Trinity 42-38.
Gearing up for the 2014 football season, the feeling of excitement is sure to surge throughout Dragon country as these two successful football programs go head-to-head once again. But this time, in district play.
