Bicentennial Park is in the second phase of improvements.
The east side of the park recently received installed safety fencing and access to the park is closed off in certain areas.
However, the good news is that components of the old park, including the Lodge, ball field fencing, shade structures, the Community Center and concession building are being removed as the site continues to be cleared for construction.
This month, residents can expect to see utilities being install and earthwork underway.
Improvements to Bicentennial Park range from a new playground to replace the torn-down Adventure Alley to parking to irrigation improvements.
However, the biggest improvement is Miracle League baseball field. The City of Southlake approved funding for the build out of the next phase of the park.
The overall project, which includes construction of the Texas Rangers Miracle League Field, is now ready to move forward. The project was delayed from the original target date of fall 2014.
Consequently, the field will be ready for play in spring 2015.
Similar improvements to Bicentennial Park include 60/90 baseball field, new concession and restroom facilities as well as enhancement to the original baseball 4-plex.
