There's plenty to do in the Dallas-Fort Worth area this holiday season. From breakfast with Santa and all of the venues for local shopping to volunteer opportunities to help those who are less fortunate and Christmas tree farms - the bonding activities with friends, neighbors, and most importantly, family, are endless.

This year, we highlight some of the coolest light shows, parades and events in the area for you and yours to experience. Here are 11 picks, and bonus events unique to Southlake at the end.

The Lights at Interlochen - Dec. 17 - Dec. 25, 2014 - The starting drive-through entrance point to this stunning lights show is at the intersection of Randol Mill Road and Westwood Drive in Arlington. Hours are 7 - 10 p.m. through Dec. 22, and 7 - 11 p.m. from Dec. 23 to 25. Allow several hours for your visit. Admission is free. More than 200 homes in this Arlington neighborhood participate and have been enchanting visitors with their extravagant Christmas lights, decorations and displays for more than 35 years. According to the website, Traffic is bumper to bumper as thousands from the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex are drawn to the Interlochen Lights each Christmas season.
