Fall football finally setbrin. The weather was cold at Plano's Tom Kimbrough stadium but the Dragonsbrstarted off hot on Friday night. Three early field goals and a successful onside kick from First Financial Bank Player of the Week KoleRamage (21,38 and 47 yards) and an Audricke Gaines 11-yard TD run had the Dragonsbrahead 16-7 half way through the second quarter.
And then DeSoto's ShawnbrRobinson took over.
The senior TCU commitbrstarted to freelance in the backfield using his speed to maneuver through thebrDragon's front line and eventually open up some passing lanes. A late firstbrhalf drive ended with a 34-yard touchdown strike from Robinson to KD Nixonbrgiving the Eagles a 29-23 halftime lead.
DeSoto never looked backbrscoring 27 unanswered points leading to a 48-30 final tally that put an end tobrthe Dragon's hopes for a ninth State Championship.
Robinson finished the gamebrwith an impressive 208 yards rushing and three touchdowns on the ground.
Mason Holmes may have onlybrcompleted six of 20 passes in the game but he made them count for 160 yards andbrtwo touchdowns both to slot receiver Jackson Davis. Audricke Gaines continued his 100 yard gamebrstreak amassing 105 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries.
