Paul T. Marciano, D.P.M.
“It is always an honor to be nominated by my peers. It shows they trust that I will provide excellent care for their patients.”
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR PARTICULAR SPECIALTY? In medicine, sometimes you treat the person’s symptoms; in podiatry, you can usually solve the problem conservatively or surgically. It exposed me to multiple fields of medicine, such as biomechanics, orthopedics, dermatology, neurology and plastics.
WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING PART OF YOUR JOB? Educating the patient on their problem instead of only treating it. I feel if the patient can understand their condition, they can help in the prevention and resolution of their symptoms.
HOW DOES YOUR PRACTICE GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY? We are associated with local community programs such as GRACE, Stepping Stones and The Gatehouse.
WHAT IS A COMMON MISCONCEPTION IN YOUR FIELD? A common misconception in our field is that we don’t perform surgery. At Academy Foot & Ankle, we can surgically repair anything from the ankle to the toes for all ages. We treat anything from dermatological problems (warts, ingrown toenails) to reconstructive surgery. We always exhaust conservative therapy first, but when conservative therapies don’t work, we can definitely repair it surgically.
