Southlake Style is all about community. When the publication’s founders, Mike and Nicole Tesoriero, were searching for the perfect place to start a family in 2004, they ventured south from the tri-state area to set up camp in the small city of Southlake. The city has plenty of attractive features including its award-winning schools, picturesque homes and retail amenities, but the Tesorieros were most excited to find a city that felt like home for not only them but their growing family.
As soon as they moved into town, Mike and Nicole were eager to find opportunities to get more involved in Southlake. After surveying the area, making connections and realizing there was not a platform to share the close-knit community’s happenings, Southlake Style was born.
With their shared sales, marketing and business sense, the husband-and-wife duo teamed up to create a print publication from the comfort of their new home, and the first issues were released in March 2006. After lifting up local businesses, showcasing the efforts of city leaders and sharing lifestyle content, Southlake Style immediately made an impact on the community it covered. It even was named the “Small Business of the Year” by the Southlake Chamber of Commerce in its first year. Since its founding, Southlake Style has expanded its print monthly publications, created a digital hub of local happenings with SouthlaklakeStyle.com and held a variety of community events to bring readers and advertisers together.
While Mike and Nicole are proud to see how Southlake Style has grown, they are even happier that the media company has been able to develop alongside their chosen hometown. The Tesorieros have committed themselves to demonstrating the best of the community they live and work in, focusing on serving other area business owners, nonprofits and, of course, the Southlake Carroll Dragons.
Over the course of Southlake Style, the Tesoriero team has grown to include their two daughters, Mia and Gabriella, and the family’s loyal golden retrievers, Sparky and Rory. And the Southlake Style team has expanded to include a small but mighty group of publishing professionals, including creatives and writers who produce the publication’s content and marketing and sales professionals who help connect businesses with community members.
So whether you chat with a staff writer for an editorial feature, speak to our office coordinator when you call the office or catch the publisher at a Carroll Cross Country meet, we hope every interaction you have with Southlake Style radiates its core values of positivity, integrity, initiative, transparency and accountability.
