Emilee Prado
After making it through the preliminary and semifinal rounds at the 2020 Summer Olympics, Hailey Hernandez finished in the top 10 for the women’s 3-meter springboard.
During the preliminary round, Hailey outshined most of her competitors with a score of 309.55, finishing sixth out of 27 divers. Then in the semifinal round, Hailey once again placed in the top 10 with a score of 291.6. It was during the finals where she scored consecutive 58s on each dive until the final one, where she scored a 54. That brought her total score to 288.45, placing ninth out of the 12 finalists.
While she didn’t win a medal, Hailey was the youngest diver to compete at the Summer Olympics at 18 years old and consistently finished in the top 10 for all three rounds of the diving competition. Hailey represented Southlake and the United States well on the world stage, and we couldn’t be prouder of her for it.
Congratulations Hailey!
