Harvey evacuees currently staying in Dallas-operated emergencybrshelters are being invited to a pair of shows being performed at the AT&TbrPerforming Arts Center in the Dallas Arts District.
TITAS Presents and the Center are making up to 300 tickets availablebrfor evacuees for Thursday night's presentation of MOMIX, one of the world'sbrmost exciting dance companies. This family-friendly performance begins at 8 p.m.brin the Winspear Opera House. TITAS Presents and the Center are providing thebrcomplimentary tickets and parking for the evacuees.
“During this disaster everyone needs to come together, as a community,brto help each other,” said Charles Santos, executive director/artistic directorbrof TITAS Presents. “We are honored to open our doors and MOMIX's amazingbrperformance to those displaced by Hurricane Harvey. What we do together truly doesbrmake a difference.”
On Saturday, September 2, the rock band Colt & the Old 45s, abrDallas favorite, is making tickets available for its 7:30 p.m. performance inbrthe Wyly Theatre. The Center is providing the evacuees with complimentarybrparking for that performance as well.
The evacuees will bebrprovided vouchers at the four official City shelter locations in Dallas: the KaybrBaily Hutchison Convention Center, Samuell Grand Recreation Center, TommiebrAllen Recreation Center and Walnut Hill Recreation Center. The vouchers arebrboth a parking pass and a ticket voucher.
Vouchers will bebrdistributed by shelter staff to the evacuees at those shelters. Tickets, whichbrare redeemed with the vouchers at Will Call at the venues, are available on abrfirst come, first served basis. The vouchers to do not guarantee a parkingbrspace and/or show ticket so early arrival is being encouraged. The Center willbrcontinue to provide both until space is no longer available.
“As everyone pitches inbrto do what they can, we at the Center hope to provide some much-needed momentsbrof entertainment and solace through the arts,” said Doug Curtis, president andbrCEO of AT&T Performing Arts Center. “We're thankful for this opportunity tobropen our doors to fellow Texans who have been displaced.”
The complimentarybrperformances at the Center are among several evacuee outreach efforts beingbrannounced by arts and cultural organizations in the Dallas Arts District.
“Our hearts go out to allbrthe victims of Harvey, and we hope, that in some small way, we can bring abrlittle bit of joy into the lives of those enduring this tragedy,” said BryanbrStout of Colt and the Old 45s. “We welcome with open arms those unfortunatebrvictims who would like to, and can, attend our concert.”
