The patients who venture their way into Axis Brain & Back Institute are often looking for treatment or care when it comes to their spine or back. Yet upon entering their new Southlake office, one might be surprised to see that with their stone wall tiling, marble countertops and cream-colored interior, stepping into Axis Brain & Back feels more like stepping into a home rather than a hospital.
In many ways, this building fits in line with Dr. Saeid Aryan’s mission in neurosurgery: Treat your patients like family, and make them as comfortable as possible throughout what is generally an uncomfortable process.
“You want to have a team taking care of you that cares about you,” Aryan expresses. “At Axis Brain & Back Institute, we treat everybody like a family. We understand that spine surgery is very complicated and scary. We do everything in our power to make sure that patients are comfortable throughout the whole entire process."
With over 10 years of neurosurgery experience and performing over 3,000 surgical cases, Aryan started his practice in 2014 when he moved to Texas after finishing his residency at Ohio University’s Department of Neurosurgery. But even after opening his first office in Keller, Aryan quickly realized the Metroplex's medical needs expanded far beyond Keller’s city limits.
“I’ve been in the area for about five years,” Aryan recalls. “Our first office was in Keller, but we were getting quite a bit of patients from Southlake. So we decided to expand, come this way and put an office here.”
Aryan states that while he’s spread across four offices throughout the area, including Keller, Southlake, Decatur and Denton, Aryan doesn’t manage his practice alone. He has his partner Dr. David Rubin to help him.
“He’s been able to come and start his practice in this office here,” Aryan states. “I couldn’t do it without him.”
Graduating from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine and completing his residency at New York Weill Cornell Hospital, Rubin says he’s seen up close the need that the area has for neurosurgery. By opening a new Axis Brain & Back branch in Southlake, Rubin expresses that they're at the epicenter to adequately address those needs.
“Dallas-Fort Worth is a big area,” Rubin expresses. “We’ve only been open for a month, but we’ve already gotten really busy. People are coming to see us from the area and surrounding towns.”
Both surgeons specialize in minimally invasive surgery, where procedures are operated with less damage to the body than with open surgery. Aryan states that their office is currently working on a surgery center next door where they will be able to conduct small day surgeries for patients who are in need of them.
But at the moment, Aryan simply expresses his gratitude at Axis Brain & Back’s grand opening and for becoming a part of the Southlake community.
“We are really excited,” Aryan expresses. “We look forward to being part of the community for a long time. I think we’re going to do very good things here.”
