Cultivating Complex Care: Baylor Scott & White Expands Services And Technology
“We remain focused on caring for and loving our patients in a safe and healing environment.” — Chris York, President
For nearly 70 years, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Grapevine has provided personalized, compassionate care for the community. It is now expanding its capabilities to provide more comprehensive services to those with complex conditions.
Recognized by “U.S. News & World Report” as high performing in COPD, stroke, heart and kidney failure, Baylor Scott & White - Grapevine is the only Level II Trauma Center in Northeast Tarrant County. It is committed to providing high-quality, loving care for every patient. President Chris York says Baylor Scott & White - Grapevine is focused on serving as the premier, convenient health care destination between Dallas and Fort Worth.
“The need we’re trying to fulfill is high-acuity, complex conditions,” Chris says. “From a health care standpoint, we want our community to receive the highest quality and most compassionate care close to home.”
One of the initiatives it is leading to meet those needs is expanding the current hospital. According to Chris, the hospital is being renovated to expand capacity by 70 beds, with the overall renovation taking place over the next three years.
“Our daily census has increased substantially over the last few years,” Chris says. “From a growth standpoint, we continue to set records in terms of patients we’re seeing. We had 1,055 ambulance visits to our hospital in July, which is an all-time record. A couple weeks ago, we cared for 172 patients in our ER in one day, which is also an all-time record in a single day.”
But expanding the space isn’t all that Baylor Scott & White - Grapevine is focused on — the hospital is also aiming to increase its technological capabilities. Its new biplane diagnostics imaging machine uses a minimally invasive technique to restore blood flow to the brain in stroke patients, while the Xi surgical robot helps simplify medical procedures for experienced surgeons. Plus, with new specialists in vascular surgery and hand trauma, Baylor Scott & White - Grapevine is equipped to treat more patients than ever before.
“Our focus is to make sure patients receive world-class care when they come here,” Chris says.
No matter how much the population changes in the future, Baylor Scott & White - Grapevine is committed to changing with them. That’s what it means to care for a community.
