Dr. Terri DeNeui, nurse practitioner, has always wanted to help people. Early in her career, Terri worked for many years as a hospitalist and emergency room practitioner. Somewhere along the line, she felt her hard work and long night shifts weren’t enough.
“Everybody was just so sick, and all we were doing was just writing prescription after prescription,” Terri says. “I felt like I was just Band-Aiding symptoms and not looking for the root cause of my patient’s problems in many cases.”
With a laser-eyed focus on hormone optimization and disease prevention, Terri eventually re-branded the clinics she started in 2008 as EVEXIAS Medical Centers. In 2018, alongside her husband Dan, she launched EVEXIAS Health Solutions to train healthcare providers in the advanced hormone optimization method she’s honed over the past decade.
“Most people think hormones are just to treat hot flashes, mood swings or low energy, but it is so much more than that,” Terri says. “Helping practitioners and their patients understand the pivotal role of hormones like estrogen, testosterone, progesterone and thyroid play in heart disease, Alzheimer’s, memory loss, depression, certain cancers, metabolic syndrome and so much more is my passion when I teach.”
This specialized method of hormone optimization, now branded EvexiPEL, includes not only assessing and treating hormone deficiencies in women and men but also hormone metabolism and hormone receptor activity. Terri compared approaching hormone optimization to fueling up your car, but never doing a tune-up, cleaning the engine, changing the oil or any other maintenance you may need for your vehicle.
“The gas is in the tank, but the fuel cannot get into the engine to do the work,” Terri remarks.
The integrated approach is what sets her clinic teams and training curriculum apart. EVEXIAS Health Solutions coined the approach the EvexiPEL method and trained over 400 health care providers across the country in just its first year of business.
“It’s a testament to patients and healthcare providers’ desire for alternate ways to optimize health and offer real solutions to the growing healthcare crisis in America,” Dan says.
EVEXIAS Medical Centers now has more than 30 staff members and serves thousands of patients every year with the EvexiPEL method. EVEXIAS Health Solutions has expanded to 80 staff nationally to support the growing number of EvexiPEL providers. EVEXIAS’ teaching faculty includes world-renowned hormone optimization and disease prevention guru Dr. Neal Rouzier, as well as other thought leaders in the field. Neal and Terri spend much of their time researching and keeping up with the latest studies to ensure they, along with their team, are teaching the most up-to-date information.
“My view on hormones completely changed when I heard Terri DeNeui speak at a conference in April 2019,” Dr. Julie Shelley says. “I started to think about patients within my family medicine practice and realized that there were so many symptoms and conditions that I could have safely treated with the use of bioidentical hormones. I attended the EVEXIAS training with my nurse, and we were invigorated from learning about how much bioidentical hormone treatment could help our patients. I only wish I had known about EVEXIAS sooner.”
Terri says she’s seen a lot of growth, change and transition in EVEXIAS Medical Centers over the last 10 years — and it’s all thanks to the huge team of experienced, talented people she works with.
“I never dreamed the clinic would grow to become as successful as it is, that we would have four locations or that I would be teaching advanced disease prevention strategies alongside some of the leaders in this industry,” she expresses. “We are truly blessed to be able to serve practitioners and their patients in this way.”
