The U.S. Small Business Council has a new chairman, and it’s Southlake’s very own Ian MacLean.
For over 18 years, Ian has been transforming lawns and installations as the owner and president of Highland Landscaping. With notable clients such as The Hilton, Methodist Southlake Hospital and the city of Southlake, Highland Landscaping provides several services such as fertilization, irrigation, property cleanup and maintenance.
That hard work has led it to some esteemed recognitions. Not only was the business recognized as the No. 1 family business of the year in “Fort Worth Business Press’” top 100 businesses of 2020 but also Ian was appointed to serve as chairman for the U.S. Small Business Council.
“It was quite a surprise when we got the phone call,” Ian remarks. “We didn’t apply for it, we didn’t campaign for it. This was just a blessing that fell right out of the sky.”
As chairman of the council, Ian will help lead the effort on pushing for legislation that will benefit small businesses around the country. He says the council led the effort on incorporating the paycheck protection program into the CARES Act, and now its next priority is to push for more financial aid for small businesses.
“It’s just a tremendous honor,” Ian remarks. “I am thankful for the recognition and our whole team is just feeling very blessed right now.”
