For over 40 years, the Huntington Learning Center has been helping kids K-12 with their education and learning. This week, that mission came to Southlake, along with the couple who runs it together.
Founded in 1977 by Dr. Raymond Huntington and his wife Eileen, Huntington Learning Center is one of the oldest supplemental education providers in the nation. They offer tutoring for basic public education subjects and exam prep for the SAT and ACT. According to Huntington’s website, an exam prep student will increase their testing ACT score by an average of 5.3 points and their testing SAT score by 226 points.
“My husband started this journey probably in Fall 2017,” Southlake Executive Director Shanda Wright expresses. “I was trying to get back into corporate America because I had been contracting after taking off and having the kids. He set up the corporation, and then I really just kind of took it from there.”
Shanda says her husband Ralph looked to open one of their own franchises after he got laid off from his job a few years back. With over 280 locations across the United States, Shanda says they wanted to open their own location in Southlake due to the importance of education in the community.
“I’m really excited,” she expresses. “We’ve gotten a lot of support, especially from the Southlake community and the chamber. I’ve seen things in me I didn’t know I’ve had. It’s been a labor of love.”
Huntington Learning Center - Southlake is open now at 480 West Southlake Blvd in Suite 115. To learn more about the Learning Center and the services they provide, call 817.618.5300 or visit HuntingtonHelps.com
