Founded by a former senior executive and attorney, Neil Sacker, Sacker Entertainment Law (SEL) provides legal services for mini-studios, financiers, distributors, production companies and talent across film, TV, digital and podcasting. SEL even represents a new entertainment studio in space.
Neil’s journey began at the Warner Bros. Studios lot in 1991, where he was responsible for drafting critical agreements for WB’s biggest film franchises and stars. When he made the move to Miramax as its head of legal affairs in 1995, Neil worked on over 70 films for the studio, including “Scream,” “Good Will Hunting,” the “Lord of the Rings” franchise and the Academy Award-winning “The English Patient.” Following Miramax, Neil ran two of the most prolific independent production companies that financed and produced the Academy Award-winning “Crash” and many other great films.
In 2022, Neil created his own boutique law firm to execute a plan that no other firm was doing — first and foremost, provide the highest level legal services and, utilizing Neil’s business and creative experience, also actively assist each of SEL’s clients in the execution of their business plans.
Most entertainment law firms only hire attorneys with entertainment experience. Neil Sacker has a completely different philosophy. “I only hire attor- neys that have little or no entertainment experience so that I can train them using the insights that I gained from many extraordinary mentors over my years in the industry. By combining a group of bright young attorneys with my longstanding industry re- lationships, SEL is able to deliver at the highest level for its clients.”
In the two-and-a-half years since its launch, Sacker Entertainment Law has grown from two attorneys to six. With its recent expansion into Dal- las, many up-and-coming creatives and executives have a whole new world to tap into with Neil and his exceptional legal team.
