For over 20 years, the Gaylord Texan has been creating unforgettable summertime experiences for families at its 10-acre waterpark and resort. That tradition continues through this year’s annual SummerFest, which brings even more adventures, excitement and relaxation than ever before.
Running through Sept. 2, the Gaylord Texan’s SummerFest features several activities the whole family can enjoy. At the Adventure Kid Clubhouse, guests can unleash their creativity through several arts and crafts activities such as painting, building kites and making their own flower crowns. The Hunt For Hidden Treasure lets children run wild in the resort atriums to explore, discover and uncover gems through an interactive scavenger hunt. Plus a live show will allow young viewers to join the club and meet Alfie the Armadillo, Layla the Longhorn and everyone’s favorite adventure kid, Sophie.
Back by popular demand this year is Summer Cirque, a live show where performers achieve daring aerial feats and show-stopping balancing acts that will take your breath away. The Junior Chef’s Camp allows the young aspiring chef to become a culinary apprentice, while the Horticulture tours will guide guests through the resort’s 4.5 acres of indoor gardens. Families will have to race against the clock if they’re trapped inside one of the escape rooms, and animal encounters will bring guests up close to see some of the resort’s most exotic creatures. Plus the Luminosity Light Show will fill the atrium with a stunning kaleidoscope of colors that will showcase the light’s journey from the stars to the sun.
Even more summer fun awaits at Paradise Springs, the 10-acre outdoor waterpark that has everything from a 600-foot-long lazy river and winding waterslides to a 6,000-square-foot family lagoon with a zip line. The Relache Spa offers soothing treatments for the body, mind and soul through its rejuvenating massages and sauna, and while the kids are away, the adults get to play with wine, whiskey and bourbon-tasting events as rich as they are complex. Be sure not to miss out on the Gaylord’s July 4th weekend, which will rock the lot with a fireworks extravaganza, a Taylor Swift tribute performance and dozens of family-friendly activities.
