When Southlake divorce attorney Nicole Carroll tells clients she understands what they're going through, she's speaking from personal experience. Six years ago, Nicole was in the middle of a contentious divorce with her husband of 13 years when he passed away unexpectedly.
"It was a tragic end to my marriage, one that I never could have foreseen," she says. "Regardless of our differences, he was the father of my children.”
The experience transformed her, deepening her empathy and understanding of her clients' unique situations.
"I don't think there is any issue that someone can come to me with that I have not personally experienced or seen in my 26 years of practicing law," she says. "I use my experience to help others. It is my purpose."

Today, Nicole serves as senior counsel and leads the division with her partner Wade Griffin Jr., who has been practicing family law for more than 25 years. Shortly after he got out of the Navy in 1994, Wade went through his own legal battle in which he was awarded custody of his two sons.
"I know my experiences in and out of the courtroom give me an understanding that most attorneys don’t have," he says. "I'm able to relate to my clients in a very real way.”
