Ebby Halliday Foundation, WiNGS Team Up To Impact Women In DFW
WiNGS – a 113-year-old nonprofit organization that empowers women, fights poverty and impacts generations – has been named the beneficiary of all donations made to the Ebby Halliday Foundation through the end of summer. This partnership continues the legacy and connection between WiNGS (formerly the YWCA of Dallas) and Ebby, and will build on the impact made on women in Dallas through WiNGS programming.
Ebby Halliday embodied the spirit of entrepreneurship, support and mentorship of women, which is foundational to WiNGS’ mission. Causes benefiting women and children were always dear to Ebby, who supported the organization back when it was known as the YWCA. She remained a faithful supporter to helping women achieve financial security and self-sufficiency through the transition to WiNGS, and even became the namesake of the WiNGS building “Ebby’s Place,” which opened in 2015.
“Ebby Halliday was doing the work of WiNGS before she even knew about WiNGS,” WiNGS CEO Kate Rose Marquez says. “This partnership is a continuation of her unwavering support of women and will allow WiNGS to have an even greater impact on families in Dallas.”
Just as Ebby approached mentorship, WiNGS is not a one-time service – it is an organization that practices the principle of teaching women to fish. The services at WiNGS empower women to become self-sufficient and take ownership of their path to success. WiNGS staff, coaches, nurses and volunteers take a customized approach to tailor resources, action plans and one-on-one mentorship to each client’s specific goals and build resiliency to prepare for the future. WiNGS views “Ebby’s Place” as not just a physical building, but more of a state of mind.
“The WiNGs Center at Ebby’s Place goes above and beyond to help women get back on their feet,” says Chris Kelly, Ebby Halliday Companies President and CEO and Ebby Halliday Foundation board member. "Its goals and our mission of service align perfectly. We're very proud to support this vital community asset."
