Community Storehouse announced the 4th Annual Education Express event and fundraiser is set for Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Grapevine Vintage Railroad in support of our summer reading programs. Through literacy programs like Summer Book Club and Quest, the nonprofit is giving children the tools they need to stay focused on their education. The success of these events allows them to help these children during the summer months when they need it the most. Guests will enjoy great food and live music on board 1920s vintage coaches. It is a perfect romantic evening out for couples or a unique experience for a group of friends!
Tickets can be purchased by visiting EducationExpressTx.com. If you are unable to attend this special night, please consider making a donation so no child is turned away from these opportunities! Donations can be made at CommunityStorehouse.org
About Community Storehouse and summer literacy programs
The Community Storehouse, founded in 1982, is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit provided services to children living at or below the poverty level in Keller ISD, Northwest ISD and Carroll ISD. Community Storehouse positively changes educational outcomes for children in crisis. The demand for our services continues to increase due to population growth, economic conditions, natural disasters, societal factors, situational life crisis events and health issues. Last year, our services increased by 300 percent. We provided over 100,000 services to children and their families. We’re the only nonprofit, 501(c)3 children’s charity in Northeast Tarrant County focused on the education and well-being of low-income children in our community.
Think of Community Storehouse as the first responders to any issues that threaten to interfere with a child’s success in school. Our summer literacy programs, like Quest Summer Enrichment and Summer Book Club, motivate children to read for pleasure and become engaged readers and writers. Throughout the day, students experience positive read-aloud sessions followed by both writing and hands-on enrichment activities directly related to the text. Participants of our summer reading programs receive lunch during the day, daily snacks to take home, a free book to take home each day to build their home library, food for the weekend and Dignity Packs of hygiene supplies (toothbrush, toothpaste, towel, washcloth, soap, shampoo, floss, etc.).
