Dragon Boys Basketball
About the Team
The Carroll Dragon Boys Basketball team enters this year tryingbrto achieve new heights. After missing the postseason in 2015, head coach EricbrMcDade is looking to lead his team to the playoffs. Having lost two of theirbrtop three scorers from last year’s team, the Dragons haven’t had much troublebrrebuilding as they currently sit in second place in district 7-6A behindbrdistrict foe Coppell. Leading the way is 6’-6” Senior Joey McCormick, who isbrtops on the team in both scoring (12.6) ppg and rebounding (5.6) rpg. He’s abrshot-blocking force in the middle on defense while shooting 44 percent from thebrfield. After missing the first eight games of the season due to his footballbrresponsibilities, 6’-5” forward Lil’ Jordan Humphrey has quickly returned tobrform for McDade’s ball club. The senior has added a much-needed scoring punch andbris currently second on the team in points per game (8.0), while corralling almostbrfive rebounds per game. Point guard Cooper Osburn has picked up right where hebrleft off in 2015, leading the Dragons in assists once again at 3.0 per game, brwhile shooting 34 percent from behind the three-point line.
Season Update
The Southlake Carroll boys basketball team has had an up andbrdown year as they enter the second halfbrof the 2015-16 season with a (11-11) record. With a few key players missing earlybrseason action, the team has been able to stay afloat thanks to some seniorbrleadership. With a 4-2 conference record, they are currently second in behindbrCoppell (6-0). After losing three in a row at the Whataburger Classic, includingbra three-point overtime loss to No. 12 team in the state Klein Forest, McDade’s squadbrhas rebounded tremendously, winning three of their first five district games. Withbra (3-2) record in district with seven games left in the regular season, thebrDragons only sit two games behind first place Coppell, who defeated the Dragonsbrby only one point in their meeting earlier in district play. Led by senior JoeybrMcCormick, who’s averaging 15.3 ppg through five district matchups, look forbrthe mentally tough Dragons to continue their strong push towards postseasonbrplay.
