GrapeFest fans will have to wait until next year to sample their favorite wines and beverages on Main Street. On Monday morning, the city of Grapevine announced that it had canceled the 34th annual GrapeFest, citing safety concerns for attendees, volunteers, staff, sponsors and vendors due to COVID-19.
“GrapeFest is one of Grapevine’s marquee festivals that we take great pride in showcasing not only for the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, but to visitors from around the world,” co-chairpersons Steve and Maggie Haley says. “We want to thank our volunteers, 38 civic and service charitable organizations, sponsors and vendors. We must now look forward to GrapeFest 2021.”
The 34th annual Grapefest was originally scheduled for September 17-20. According to a media release, the festival attracts more than 260,000 visitors to Grapevine Historic District for four days filled with 240 wines, live entertainment, festival food and family fun. GrapeFest also features the People’s Choice Wine Tasting Classic, the largest consumer-judged wine competition in the United States that showcases 45 Texas wineries and 162 wines.
The next GrapeFest is currently scheduled for fall 2021. To stay up to date and learn more about the event’s cancellation, visit GrapevineTexasUSA.com.
