City of Colleyville
Little kids and their families will be at the Colleyville Nature Center for the city’s annual Haunted Trail Fest this weekend — but they won’t be the only ones. They will be joined by a group of ghosts, goblins and other ghoulish creatures that will keep them scared throughout the night.
Colleyville has hosted the Haunted Trail Fest for the past 10 years. City community relations officer Erin Spicer says the trail will be set up at 6 p.m. on Saturday and will be open for an hour and a half for kids. But at 7:30 p.m., the event will add actors and animatronics for scarier effects. Erin says some of the monsters featured on this year’s trail include ghosts, grim reapers and clowns.
“This is a long-standing event for Colleyville,” Erin says. “It gets a little bit scarier, a little creepier every year.”
But the trail is not the only aspect families can look forward to. There will also be fun carnival games kids can participate in such as frog throwing and gourd bowling, and food and refreshments will be provided in between activities.
Plus, kids 12 and under can enter to grab a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch to take home to decorate. Erin encourages families to come early since pumpkins are limited and the trail closes at 8:45 p.m.
“This is one of the biggest events our community looks forward to every year,” she says. “It’s one people definitely look forward to and plan their fall activities around. It’s fun to see everyone in their costumes come and hang out as a family. It’s much more than just a trail.”
The Haunted Trail Fest is free and runs from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday at 100 Mill Wood Dr. For more information, call 817.503.1113 or visit Colleyville.com.
