After faithfully serving the community for over 20 years, Ken Baker has officially retired from the city of Southlake.
Joining the planning and development services department in 1999, Ken began his career in Southlake as a planner until he was named director in 2004. Throughout his 23-year career with the city, Ken’s team has received more than 16 awards on their project planning, urban forestry and tree preservation. According to MySouthlakeNews.com, he was also recognized as planner of the year by the Midwest section of the Texas chapter of the American Planning Association and received numerous other awards from the city.
“Ken is a kind and patient person, and he is absolutely committed to doing his job professionally and effectively,” city manager Shana Yelverton says on MySouthlakeNews.com. “It is difficult to come up with the words to fully describe Ken Baker’s impact on our city.”
Ken retired from his position effective Oct. 24. Deputy director Dennis Killough has been appointed to serve as director in the interim.
