Dallas is boasting new art installations in honor of International Women’s Day on Friday, March 8.
Opening in 2018, Sweet Tooth Hotel is an interactive art museum that partners with local and national artists to curate innovative, experiential exhibitions. But over the next two weeks, Sweet Tooth Hotel will debut its newest creative collaborations with Topo Chico and Punch Bowl Social.
On March 8, Sweet Tooth Hotel will unveil a textile exhibit by Austin-based artist Hannah Busekrus entitled “Sabores Splash.” The rug-tufted display explores the many bright, flavorful nuances of Topo Chico’s refreshments, accompanied by complimentary Topo Chico goodies at the museum’s Clairosa Cocktail Lounge.
“Sabores Splash is a deep dive into the bold and bright flavors of Topo Chico’s Sabores,” Hannah says via media release. “The textural elements I’ve added using rug tufting represent the feel of the carbonation, a zillion tiny bubbles, a little prickly on the tongue and yet still soft somehow.”
Sweet Tooth Hotel’s sister property Punch Bowl Social will also be featuring a rug-tufted fiber installation by Dallas-based artist Sam Lao on March 8 entitled “Stay Sweet.” According to a press release, the tactile nature of Sam’s work subverts the old adage of “do not touch the artwork” by inviting the viewer to do just that and turn a visual experience into an interactive one as well.
