For over 40 years, TED talks have been reshaping the way we view the world by spreading ideas about science, culture, technology, economics and so much more. In 2020, those ideas came to Southlake for the inaugural TEDxSouthlake conference, which continues to inspire the community with new ideas and experiences four years later.
Taking place at Main Street Grapevine’s Lancaster Theatre on Sunday, Oct. 27, TEDxSouthlake was created by Uma Devireddy to nurture camaraderie and professional development between both adults and inquisitive young minds. With a dynamic mix of local and national guest speakers, these talks feature everyone from the curious and ambitious student to the high-level executive and even a celebrity or two.
This year’s lineup of speakers includes Lindsay MacMillan, a former vice president at Goldman Sachs who completely switched careers by becoming a published author in 2022. The bowtie-wearing comedian Mike Goodwin gives a hilarious and equally insightful look at building resilience through comedy, while “Karate Kid III” actor Sean Kanan, a.k.a. Mike Barnes, dives into the power of storytelling and how it can help create change. Plus you can hear Southlake resident James Durham's story regarding his experiences surviving a traumatic brain injury.
With all sorts of guest speakers and unexpected topics, TEDxSouthlake brings a wealth of knowledge that anyone can benefit from learning about. Tickets are $60-$100 and can be purchased at TEDxSouthlake.com.
