Every year, the Gaylord Texan is decked out in festive decor, transforming into a magical winter wonderland. Most spectacularly of all is the 2 million pounds — or 1,000 tons — of colorful ice that gets expertly carved into holiday scenes for their signature attraction. This season, there’s a new green guest looking to take over the frosty fun!
Beginning on Nov. 10 and running through Dec. 31, ICE! at the Gaylord Texan features 10 scenes from Dr. Seuss’ iconic children’s book “How The Grinch Stole Christmas.” Displaying the likes of Max the dog, Cindy-Lou Who and of course the Grinch himself, ICE! includes 17,000 square feet of larger-than-life sculptures portraying Whoville, Mount Crumpit, the Grinch’s sleigh and more. Make your way through tunnels and arches before gliding down the two-story ice slides. While the kids have fun, adults can chill out with a drink at the exclusive VIP ice bar, On The Blocks.
The Grinchy fun doesn’t stop there. Take part in the Grinch’s Wonderful Awful Idea Scavenger Hunt to search for hidden clues throughout the resort that reveal Grinch’s mischievous plan to ruin the holidays, or feast, feast, feast with the Grinch himself at a festive character breakfast.
If you want to let it snow a little longer, an eight-lane tubing hill is the perfect thrill for those who want to race to the bottom. The Snowball Build & Blast gives a tub of snow to those eager for a snowball fight, and a 6,000-square-foot ice skating rink is perfect to practice your yuletide glide. Dazzling acrobatics, feats of flexibility and high-flying stunts await at the spectacular Cirque: Spirit of Christmas, and thousands of dancing lights will synchronize to the sounds of the season at the Lone Star Atrium’s light show.
