The city of Southlake's Holiday Break Camp Mania returns for its third straight year for Thanksgiving (Nov. 24-26), Christmas (Dec. 22, 23, 26) and New Year's (Dec. 29, 30, 31, Jan. 2). All camps will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Durham Intermediate School's gym and cafeteria. The holiday camp is an extension of the city's summer camp, which has run since 1995.
According to MySouthlakeNews.com, "children, ages 5-11, are invited to have fun and meet new friends in a safe environment during their time off school. Holiday Break Camp Mania will offer games, crafts, movies, field trips and much more. Your child will have a lot to talk about from their Camp Mania experience."

Although December camps have yet to be finalized, Camp Mania coordinator Ashley Newhart said the November camp will go to a movie at Tinseltown, as well as ITZ for the major field trip. The fire department will have an interactive obstacle course for the kids, plus arts and crafts tailored to the Thanksgiving spirit.
"Excellent first camp experience for my son and us! Looking forward to next year!" an anonymous participant from a previous year's camp said.
Newhart said various volunteers praised the camp's field trips. Youth volunteers were also helpful to the staff, according to Newhart.
Parents and members of the community can get involved with various volunteer opportunities for the camps. Businesses can also help by sponsoring the camps. A variety of options are available for all of the above and can be explored by calling 817-748-8019 (sponsorship inquiries can be emailed to: sponsorships@ci.southlake.tx.us).
