Feedstore BBQ: Celebrating 20 Years Of “Q” For You
Celebrate Southlake's oldest retail establishment Oct. 18-24 with Feedstore BBQ's 20th anniversary.
Our restaurant wasn't always a barbecue joint. What began as Bailey Feed Store in the late 1950s became Miller's Grocery, which then became Dee's Hitchin' Post in the late 1970s, which became Southlake Feed & Tack in the mid-1980s.
When Bill and Phyllis Lafavers — we call em' Papa Bill and Mema — bought the property, they kept it as a feed and tack store until they realized Southlake was developing and the horses and cattle were leaving town. Give credit to then-Southlake mayor Rick Stacy for telling Papa Bill and Mema "What this town needs is a good barbecue joint!"
Since Bill has been a judge in the Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational Barbecue competition, that made a lot of sense to him. Our family closed the feed and tack operation and began a 20-year tradition of serving Southlake and the surrounding community in April 2001.
Since social distancing was still taking place last spring, we moved our 20th-anniversary celebration from April to October, because we want to celebrate with all of our friends and neighbors. You're like family to us! You see us throughout Southlake as we cater over 100 times a year, plus we operate the concessions at the Carroll Dragon football games. We support every nonprofit in town that we can.
Feedstore is more than a part of Southlake — Feedstore is Southlake! We're legendary for:
- The best barbecue in North Texas with our Certified Hereford Beef
- Papa Bill’s Burgers
- Fried catfish with our special batter
- Our regular baked potatoes, which can be stuffed with brisket or turkey
- Generous big bowl salads, meatless or with your favorite meats
- Chicken fried steak on Tuesdays and Thursdays
- Tender brisket burnt ends on Mondays and Saturdays
- Southern-style sides, just like your mama used to make
- Home-style desserts, from cobbler to banana pudding
Check out our Facebook page for details on our week-long specials and the big day on Saturday, Oct. 23. You don't even need to wait until the week of to celebrate! Come join us for lunch or dinner today and return as often as you'd like.
Then come see us again during our 20th-anniversary celebration. On behalf of the Lafavers family, thank you for welcoming us to Southlake. Our family is honored to serve you.
