Prisoner 24601 first stole bread — and the hearts of audiences everywhere — more than 30 years ago; now, Jean Valjean and the entire cast of Les Misérables are back in town with a stunning new production of this Broadway musical, presented by Cameron Mackintosh. The show follows Valjean as he escapes parole, starts a new life, looks over a beautiful young girl named Cosette after her mother dies and evades Inspector Javert, the prison officer who has been hunting Valjean for years. This dramatic musical takes viewers to a tumultuous time of passion, sacrifice, love and redemption — all with vibrant new scenery and staging. Fans of the show will love seeing performances of favorite songs, including “One Day More,” “I Dreamed a Dream,” “On My Own,” “Stars” and “Bring Him Home.” And newcomers will be pleasantly surprised with how quickly they are swept up by the brilliant storytelling.
Les Misérables is based on the novel of the same name written by Victor Hugo in 1862. In 1980, the musical premiered in Paris with French lyrics by Alain Boublil and music by Claude-Michel Schönberg. This Tony Award-winning musical is one of the longest-running in the world and has been seen by 70,000,000 people in 44 countries and 22 languages! In 2012, Les Misérables was made into a movie starring Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe, which received a multitude of awards including several Oscars and Golden Globes, and helped cement the story in popular culture. This old French story is just as gripping, exciting and fantastic today as it was 156 years ago — and we can hardly wait to experience it again!
