Two Southlake Carroll students received one of the Girl Scouts' highest distinctions last weekend.
Earlier this spring, sophomore Zania Karim and senior Miranda Downs started community service projects in pursuit of their gold award, which is given to fewer than 6% of Girl Scouts. Zania advocated for mental health, while Miranda’s focus was on animal enrichment. Both were honored alongside 14 other recipients during the Girl Scouts 2024 Gold Awards on April 13.
“What Gold Award Girl Scouts do best is tackle issues that are important to them to drive meaningful and lasting change in their communities and beyond,” CEO Bonnie Barczykowski says via media release. “I know that this is just the beginning for them. They’re the changemakers the world needs more than ever right now.”
