Five Dragon musicians advanced to state last month, but only one reached the first chair in his section.
In early February, five Dragons traveled to San Antonio to perform at the TMEA All-State Convention. While clarinetist Fe Lau, horn player Rylie Allen, pianist Alexander Feng and tenor saxophonist Michael Fradkin all struck a chord across the concert, symphonic and jazz bands, David Zachariah reached first chair for the flutes, making him the No. 1 flute player in the state of Texas.
“I am humbly grateful to God for elevating me to measures higher than I ever could have imagined,” David says. “I am also thankful for the opportunities afforded to me by my teachers and Carroll ISD. Their support empowered me to excel both academically and musically in all I do.”
After graduating in the spring, David plans to expand on his musical prowess in college as a double major in music and computer science.
