Ghouls, goblins and ghosts, oh, my! This month, we have abrhost of hair-raising Halloween events to share. Be prepared to be scared with frightbrnights, costume contests and animal shows — but don't fret, they're allbrperfectly family friendly.
Six Flags OverbrTexas Fright Fest
Every weekend through Oct. 27, Six Flags transitions frombr“Thrills by Day” to “Fright by Night” at 6 p.m. Enjoy terrifying shows likebrWelcome to Arania’s Nightmare — the tale of a bride’s manhunt for her 14thhusband — and the Zombie A-Rock-Alypse, a spooky music and dance performance bybrzombies and ghouls. Kids 10 and younger can dress up for the costume catwalkbrand will also love the Looney Tunes Spooky Town, a trick-or-treat event set inbra (not-so-scary) haunted maze.
Boo at the Zoo
This 22nd annual event at the Fort Worth Zoobrpromises fun for all ages, from an animal show and pumpkin patch to a costumebrparade, crafts and treats. Boo at the Zoo, presented by Central Market andbrWells Fargo, takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 25–27 and is free for zoobrmembers or free with admission — $12 for adults, $9 for children ages 3–12, $9brfor seniors ages 65 and older and free for children 2 and younger.
DFW Pug-O-Ween
What's cuter than pugs in costume? We say nothing! On Oct.br27, head on over to Grapevine for the 17th annual DFW Pug-O-Ween atbrthe Grapevine Convention Center, where from 1 to 4 p.m. you can participate inbra silent auction, enjoy a pug adoption parade, costume parade and pug races.brThe event is put on by the DFW Pug Rescue Club, which rescues about 10 lovablebrpugs per week and uses funds raised to pay for veterinary expenses.
Brick-or-Treat
Before you and your kids venture out into the neighborhood onbra candy hunt, check out Legoland Discovery Center's Brick-or-Treat fete. Thebrparty kicks off at 2 p.m. with a kids’ costume contest and building station,brwhere children can construct their own Halloween haunted house out of Legos. Ifbryou’d rather stay indoors during All Hallow’s Eve, celebrate with GrapevinebrMills Mall’s Trick-or-Treat trail from 6 to 8 p.m.
Pumpkin DesignbrContest
If you’re a pumpkin-carving connoisseur with abrcreative eye, then we know you’ll enjoy the Southlake Public Library’s pumpkinbrdesign contest. Families are invited to submit their best jack-o’-lanterns tobrbe put on display at the library from Oct. 21–25 (one entry per family). Thebrpumpkins will be judged by some of the area’s familiar faces (including ourbrpublisher!), and the winning family will receive a spectacular candy basket.
