Methodist Southlake has new artwork going into its main lobby this weekend, and all 21 of them were made by young artists in the making.
During its annual youth art competition last weekend, 20 high school students showcased their creativity through an assortment of paintings, illustrations and photographs. Grapevine Faith freshman Aubrey Schaub won first place, while sophomore Savannah Ballard won second place and Westlake Academy junior Ava Ayad won third. Honorable mentions went to Carroll senior Elissa Takkouch and Grapevine Faith students Van Schoemaker, Shelby Ann Frank, Holt Robertson, Claire Monroe and Savannah Monroe.
Artist awards were also given to Carroll sophomore Marlee Fraser, junior Sarayu Veluri and Raine Ducey. Grapevine Faith students Delaney Jordan, Elle Powers, Sophia Fischer, Colton Driscoll, Charlie Donovan and Elyana Ansley also won artist awards, as well as Westlake Academy and Clariden School students Luc Nguyen and Benji Weisser.
