Southlake has a new Miss. Taylor Kilpatrick, a strategic communication major from Texas Christian University, was crowned the Miss Southlake 2019 on January 5.
Taylor started competing in the pageant world at the age of 15. She went on to participate in the Miss Texas’ Outstanding Teen competition twice. During her second year, she walked away as the 2nd runner up. While she says making it that far was amazing, she gained something even more significant than the title.
“My second year of competition I walked away with a 2nd runner up placement, but most important of all, I walked away with increased confidence and a greater sense of self,” Taylor says.
Taylor has held several other titles including Miss River Oaks Outstanding Teen, Miss Bryan College Station Outstanding Teen and Miss Harris County. Taylor says each has taught her new life lessons, and she was excited to participate in Miss Southlake to learn from the organization’s director Julie Koenig and represent the city.
“Julie Koenig, the director of the Miss Southlake Organization, is a woman that I have a lot of respect for, and I really wanted the opportunity to work with her as Miss Southlake,” Taylor says. “I also know that Southlake is a very tight-knit community and felt that, as Miss Southlake, I would have a lot of community support. The opportunity to serve the city of Southlake means the world to me.”
When she’s not performing her Miss Southlake duties or working on her degree, Taylor acts as an intern for the TCU Admissions Department and teaches dance at G-Force Dance Legacy in Fort Worth.
“I'm so glad to be back and I can't wait to see what this year has in store for me.”
