Dragons will be studying from home a little longer than expected. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced Tuesday afternoon that he will expand his previous executive orders in combatting the coronavirus.
According to the original executive orders issued on March 19, Abbott ordered residents to avoid social gatherings of more than 10 people and closed down schools until April 4. But after 3,266 Texans tested positive for the coronavirus and 41 deaths were reported, Abbott has now extended that period to May 4.
“When you look around your community, one thing is clear – distancing practices you are doing are working,” Abbott says during a press conference. “Now is not the time to let up in these distancing efforts. Now is the time to do more.”
Carroll ISD will remain closed until at least May 4. Abbott may decide to extend the order even further at a later time.
