While most academic tutoring centers base their program on a national curriculum, Chelsea Hall is a different story. Located one block away from Carroll Senior High School, Chelsea Hall makes it their mission to provide a fun, impactful tutoring experience that is specific to what their members are studying in class at Carroll High and Carroll Senior High.

Chelsea Hall focuses only on the Carroll ISD curriculum, offering group study sessions with up to eight students and a teacher who reviews the material that they are learning in class every week to prepare them for upcoming tests.

“Our teachers are plugged into what is actually happening in class,” Chelsea Hall Director Daphne Barnard says. “Each group consists only of kids from the same course, and all groups are guided by teachers who either teach in the district or are very familiar with the Carroll ISD curriculum. It’s far more effective than a session where the tutor may not be as informed on the school curriculum.”

Barnard swears by this interpersonal approach. “We strive to implement a group tutoring philosophy in a setting where students collaborate with supportive teachers to achieve their highest GPAs possible. This also allows us to charge our members much less than the cost of one-on-one tutoring.”
