One of Carroll’s Dragons who attended a workout at the performance course has tested positive for COVID-19.
According to a district email sent on June 15, the student came down with symptoms, including a sore throat and heavy breathing, after he worked out alongside other athletes and coaches on Monday and Tuesday, June 8 and 9. After the student's test results came back positive, the individuals who worked out with him were contacted and were instructed to quarantine for two weeks, until Wednesday, June 24.
The University Interscholastic League recently allowed athletic practices to resume on June 8 if players checked in with their coaches beforehand and maintained social distance of at least 6 feet. Workouts will continue for all other CISD sports, according to the district email. The indoor workout facility and weight room will be closed for sanitation and disinfecting, while football practices, high school and middle school workouts will move to CSHS’ outdoor practice field until further notice.
The district encourages parents and students to continue following CDC guidelines and contact their physician if they start to experience symptoms of COVID-19. To stay up to date regarding the district’s ongoing response to the coronavirus, go to CISD’s #SAFEdragon page at SouthlakeCarroll.edu.
