Southlake Carroll’s DECA team has a big showing on both the state and international stage.
Last month, 59 DECA Dragons traveled to Houston for the DECA State Conference, where students were presented with a business scenario and had to workshop solutions in less than 20 minutes. Role-playing events including marketing, finance, hospitality and entrepreneurship challenges.
A total of 12 Dragons were named state finalists, including Malaika Nair, Tanihsa Yadav, Srayasri Lankipalle, Nihitha Veerapalli, Arjun Suri, Ayan Bakshi, Dylan Mehta, Muzamil Jafry, Zakary Harder, Rohan Sanghavi, Shazia Karmali and Aditya Ahluwalia. Not only were these Dragons named national alternates, but six DECA members also advanced to the International Conference, including Shinali Shah, Amulya Ingu, Aditi Varma, Mariam Salim, Ethan Bank and Rishi Suri.
"It is very rewarding to witness our Carroll students achieve a state qualifier status, especially since all their hard work and preparation has been completed outside school hours," advisor Kim Goodman says.
These students will compete at the International DECA Conference in Anaheim, California on April 27-30. To learn more, visit DECA.org.
