The Carroll Dragon BBQ team is once again cooking its way to state.
During the regional qualifiers earlier this month, teams came to the Mansfield ISD Performing Arts Center for a cook-off that decided who would go to state. Team Smoke & Co. won second place and were named reserve champions, winning first place for ribs, second place for chicken and fifth place for their brisket. Meanwhile, team DragonFire won third place overall and first place for chicken and second place for ribs.
Both groups now head to Round Rock on May 5, where they will compete against 100 high school barbecue teams across Texas.
