Dr. Tamy Smalskas goes above and beyond school safety, so much so that her training program has attracted the attention of the Texas School Safety Center.
Arriving at the district in May 2022, Dr. Tamy Smalskas is executive director of policy and student services, and she wasted little time in delivering an intricate professional training and development series to enhance safety at all campuses. According to a media release, the series focus on areas such as freedom from bullying, harassment, discrimination, retaliation training and civilian response to active shooter events.
Her program strengthened teachers, staff and students, better prepared them for emergencies and earned her the Texas School Safety Award for excellence in staff development and training, according to a media release. The award is part of the center’s School Safety Spotlight Program.
“It is a great honor to be involved with a tremendous team that prioritizes the physical safety and security of all Dragons in Carroll ISD on a daily basis,” Dr. Smalskas says. “I look forward each day to leading the work that creates robust systems, structures and procedures that assist our campus administrators in completing thorough investigations regarding bullying, harassment and discrimination.”
