The Carroll ISD Aquatic Center has a new look. First built in 2001 as a joint-use facility between the city of Southlake and Carroll ISD, the Carroll Aquatic Center reopened this Monday after closing for an approximate $4 million renovation.
“It was wearing out mechanically after almost 20 years of constant year-round use,” head swim coach Kevin Murphy says. “The renovations give the pool a brighter look and lend some renewed pride by everyone involved with aquatics in our community.”
The renovation includes a new pump installation, new underwater pool lights, a new coat of paint, new diving boards and platforms, new showers and sinks, a new family bathroom in the lobby and a new entryway to make the center more safe and secure for the swimming public. Renovations yet to be complete include aluminum or treated metal doors and windows that are rust-resistant.
Still, it’s not the aesthetics of the new facility that’s important to Kevin but the functionality. And as the boys and girls team swam, dived and splashed in the pool, Kevin says the high school swim team is happy to be back in the waters of the newly renovated aquatic center.
“They are glad to be back in their home,” Kevin says. “We appreciate the vision of our CISD school board administration and their support for our aquatic programs, the hard work of our CISD architect, the fast and time-sensitive work of the construction company and their site managers and the oversight and hard work of our aquatic center director Charles Logan to get the job done on schedule.”
The upgraded facility is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday at 1501 W. Southlake Blvd. Admission ranges from $1 to $3.50 for residents, non-residents and city and district employees.
