Carroll ISD has recruited a former Olympian to lead its diving team for the upcoming school year.
An eight-time All-American and silver medalist at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, Anastasia Pozdniakova is a Russian diver that has won back-to-back NCAA individual titles while diving for the University of Houston. Anastasia was named the Conference USA Diver of the Year in 2007 and 2009, as well as the NCAA Diver of the Year in 2009, according to a media release. She previously coached at Spring Branch ISD before joining Carroll ISD.
"We are very excited to have such a highly qualified and experienced diving coach joining our Dragon Swim and Dive coaching staff," swimming coach Kevin Murphy says. "The future looks very bright for our Dragon high school divers as coach Pozdniakova takes the reins of our Dragon Diving program."
