Carroll ISD’s 11 campuses are off to the races to see who can raise the most gift cards for a local nonprofit in Keller. The fourth annual Gift Card Challenge is running across the district from Monday, September 23, to Friday, September 27. Students, teachers and parents can donate gift cards all week long at Carroll ISD’s various campuses to benefit the Stepping Stones Foundation, a Keller nonprofit for at-risk children.
“Campuses bring gift cards based on what they need,” assistant director of communications Justin Dearing says. “The biggest thing Stepping Stones needs is gas cards, Uber cards and Target cards – things that these kids need some help with.”
All 11 campuses will tally their results by the end of the week and donate their total collections to the Stepping Stones Foundation. The campus that tallies the highest dollar amount raised will be announced during the Dragon’s home game against the Keller Indians on Friday, September 27 at Dragon Stadium. The winning campus will also earn the Ozarka Compassion Cup trophy, which Justin says will be awarded during one of the school's upcoming assemblies.
“The winner from the previous three years was Johnson Elementary School,” Justin chuckles. “They’ll be going for the four-peat this year."
Want to donate to the fourth annual Gift Card challenge and win your campus the Ozarka Compassion Cup? Donate all week long at any of the campuses' front offices. Recommended donation amounts are $10 to $50.
