A week after Tarrant County issued an executive order requiring school districts to open exclusively for online instruction in the fall, Carroll ISD announced that it will open for both in-person and virtual instruction next month.
According to a previous Southlake Style article, Tarrant County previously ordered school districts to provide online-only instruction exclusively until September 28 after the Texas Education Agency released guidance on returning to school. But after Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said local health authorities could not close schools solely to prevent COVID-19, the district announced that it would allow both options in the fall as originally planned.
According to a media release, families can request instruction for either in person or through the new Dragon Virtual Academy during the annual student verification process. Student verification is currently open on Skyward Family Access and will be accessible until August 4. Parents can change their mind up until August 10 by emailing their campus principal.
Classes are currently scheduled to begin on Monday, August 24. To stay up to date on the district’s response to COVID-19, go to the district’s #SAFEdragon page at SouthlakeCarroll.edu.
