The Dragons come out ahead yet again as Carroll ISD tops SchoolDigger.com’s 2018-19 Texas School District Rankings list.
Ever since 2006, SchoolDigger.com has collected data from over 136,000 schools in every state to compile yearly rankings for cities, schools and districts across the nation. According to their website, SchoolDigger.com calculates school rankings based on test scores released by the Texas Education Agency, with the most recent available data compiled on July 16.
With 8,208 students and 12 schools in its district, Carroll ISD once again tops the list of 979 districts included in the aggregator’s Texas rankings. According to its profile page, this is the fifth consecutive year Carroll ISD placed first in the Texas District rankings, with its rank score at .997.
“I'm so proud for our students, teachers and Dragon families to once again be ranked at the number one district in the State of Texas,” CISD Board of Trustees president Sheri Mills says. “Achievements like this cannot be made by individuals. It takes effort from everyone, and in our case, we have teachers going the extra mile, parents who are engaged and cooperative in their child's education, and ultimately we have students who genuinely care about learning."
In addition to its district rankings, Southlake was also rated the top Texas city for education in the 2018-19 school year. George Dawson Middle School was also rated sixth on the website’s middle school rankings, and Old Union and Carroll Elementary placed first and second respectively on its elementary school rankings as well.
The only other districts in Tarrant County to place in Texas’ Top 50 Districts were the Arlington Classics Academy and the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts, both of which placed 25th and 41st.
"To achieve this ranking in the same year as winning the UIL Lone Star Cup really speaks to the effort that our students are giving into schools each day," Mills remarks. “It's the ‘extra’ that goes along with the curriculum that helps students succeed at the next steps in their lives: and that goes way beyond the test.”
