Carroll Education Foundation Funds 13 Teachers For CISD
The Carroll Education Foundation is proud to announce that we're funding 13 teachers this year – one on each campus and two at Carroll High School and Carroll Senior High School! Last year was a challenge, to say the least, but Dragon families and businesses stepped up and donated over $500,000. Along with funds from CEF’s investment account, that made it possible for CEF to donate $650,000 for teacher salaries at CISD.
Why would CEF need to fund teacher salaries? The state of Texas recaptures all residential property tax dollars over $537,000 of the home’s value and sends the funds to other districts. That adds up to an estimated $29.4 million just for the 2021-22 school year.
While this is great for those lower-income districts, it leaves a very large gap in the budget for teachers and other resources. This year, CEF is hoping to step up again with an even larger teacher fund donation, and leading the charge again this year is CEF teacher fund title sponsor Keller Williams Southlake Dragon Nation.
“It feels great to make a difference in our community, and I love that our agents who live and work in Southlake can help fund teachers for Carroll ISD,” says Kim Miller, a real estate broker at The Kim Miller Group and a part of Keller Williams Southlake Dragon Nation. “Keller Williams Southlake Dragon Nation has been the title sponsor for the CEF teacher fund since its inception in 2018, and we are proud to continue that tradition.”
Over the past three years, CEF has donated $1,650,000 to fund teachers and scholarships for CISD students and alumni.
“I am proud of the work that CEF has done over the past 25 years and especially proud of the teacher fund program,” says Rebecca Hindman, CEF Board Chair and Dragon parent.
Teachers funded by CEF range from art to STEM to health and more! The full list of funded teachers can be found on CEF's website.
“We know these teachers are necessary to sustain the high-quality education that our children deserve, but we need everyone’s help. If every family reading this message became a Friend of CEF (just $1 per day), we would raise almost $2 million and could fund 40 teachers,” says Kathy Lanier, CEF Executive Director.
