The Carroll Education Foundation is proud to announce that for the second year in a row, we're funding 13 teachers for the 2022-2023 school year – one on each CISD campus and two at Carroll High and Senior High!
Last year was challenging to say the least, but Dragon families and businesses stepped up to that challenge and donated over $650,000. That, along with funds from CEF's investment account, makes it possible for CEF to donate $650,000 for teacher salaries at CISD.
Why would CEF need to fund teachers' salaries? The state of Texas will recapture approximately one-third of local property taxes in CISD – and that’s just for the 2022-23 school year. This year, CEF is hoping to step up again and help fill the gap by granting an even larger teacher fund donation to CISD.
“I’m always amazed at the generosity of our Dragon families and businesses,” says Kali Sommer, CEF board chair and mother of two Dragons. "Over the past four years, CEF has donated over $2,300,000 to fund teachers and scholarships for CISD graduating seniors and alumni. This year, we hope to fund even more teachers. If every family became a friend of CEF this year and donated $365, just $1 a day, we could fund 35 teachers for next school year!”
This year, CEF has a new top sponsor level, and the D&M Enterprise Group Dragon Classic has stepped up to fill that role as the CEF Presenting Sponsor.
"With our continued support from our annual D&M Enterprise Group Dragon Classic golf tournament, we know that we can make the biggest impact in educating all Dragons," says tournament co-leader Isaac Gregory ('96). "By giving back to the school district that gave us so much, we are setting a positive example for our families and the community where we live and work."
Taking place at the Grapevine Municipal Golf Course, this year's 8th annual D&M Enterprise Group Dragon Classic will kick off with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
"Last year's tournament donated $60,000 to CEF and additional funds to Carroll ISD. The eighth annual tournament is sure to be the best yet," says tournament co-leader Robert Clayton ('00). “Last year’s tournament was a sold-out event for both sponsors and golfers, and this year’s event will likely sell out even earlier."
