As we joyously celebrate our recent senior class of Dragon graduates, the Carroll Education Foundation (CEF) also celebrates our tiniest Dragons, the class of 2036, who have just finished graduating from kindergarten! Continuing their annual tradition, CEF welcomed the class of 2036 as the newest members of the Club Charlie program at the beginning of the 2023-24 school year. In addition to gifting each kindergarten student in Carroll ISD with a Club Charlie yard sign, CEF also challenged each elementary campus to participate in the Club Charlie Contest this past October.
What is the Club Charlie Contest? Each kindergarten family who donates to CEF before the end of the contest is tallied per campus. The campus with the highest percentage of participation among kindergarten families not only gets bragging rights for an entire year, but also gets to house the coveted Club Charlie Champion trophy at their campus. Additionally, their entire kindergarten class is treated to a popsicle party with Charlie!
Old Union Elementary School claimed the Club Charlie Champion title for the 2023-24 school year, breaking the five-year winning streak of Carroll Elementary School! Who will win the Club Charlie Contest for the class of 2037? We will see who the next Club Charlie Champion will be as our Dragons return for the 2024-25 school year!
Again for the 2023-24 school year, CEF proudly partnered with Thomas & Sharon Michael, Realtors and owners of DFW Elite Realty, as the title sponsor of the Club Charlie program. This is their fifth consecutive year as title sponsors. The invaluable partnership with Thomas & Sharon Michael allows CEF to continue the tradition of welcoming incoming kindergarten students into the Dragon family, something unique to the Southlake community.
Thomas and Sharon have two Dragons of their own, who began their years as Dragons at Rockenbaugh Elementary. Grant graduated with the class of 2022, and Lauren will be in 10th grade at Carroll High School.
“It means so much to us to be able to welcome the newest Dragons each year and to support the incredible teachers that have helped make Carroll ISD one of the finest and most respected school systems in the country," Thomas says.
Want to know more about CEF? We believe that a great education begins and ends with great teachers. Funding teachers is the most tangible way we as a community can support not only our amazing teachers, but all Dragon students as well. For the first time in CEF’s 27-year history, ALL classroom teachers will be directly funded. Stay tuned for June 10th when we can finally reveal the CEF end-of-year teacher appreciation gift amounts to fund ALL Dragon teachers!
