On Dec. 4, Carroll ISD and the Dragon Diversity Council launched a Dragon Cultural Survey to hear from parents, staff and students about the district, according to the district.
The voluntary and confidential survey, available between Dec. 4-18, is first launching for parents. The first parent or guardian listed in Skyward Family Access will receive a link to the survey.
Questions in the survey touch on “overall parent perceptions about diversity in CISD, as well as culture and climate, safety and behavior, access and opportunities, policies and procedures, curriculum and instruction, family support and inclusion and demographic questions,” according to the district.
CISD employees will receive a link to the survey at 10 a.m. on Dec. 11 while students in grades 7-12 will be given the opportunity to take the survey during their English class.
The data collected in the survey “will assist CISD and DCC with key components of the Cultural Competence Action Plan, including the: integration of culturally competent lessons across PK-12 curriculum and instruction, alignment of culturally responsive policies and procedures, planning of guest speakers, diversity celebrations and programming, implementation of staff training, recruitment and retention of quality staff and communications and cultural outreach,” according to the district.
The overall findings of the Dragon Cultural Survey will be shared with CISD and the public at a school board meeting on January 13, 2020.
